Introduction

ABIlesubunit(IGFALS)andeitherinsulin-likegrowthfactor(IGF)IorII.Inthisform,itcirculatesintheplasma,prolongingthehalf-lifeofIGFsandalteringtheirinteractionwithcellsurfacereceptors.Alternatetranscriptionalsplicevariants,encodingdifferentisoforms,havebeencharacterized.

IGFBP5HumanRecombinantproducedinE.Coliisnon-glycosylatedhomodimercontaining2x252aminoacidsandhavingamolecularmassof28.6kDa.IGFBP5ispurifiedbyproprietarychromatographictechniques.
